Hi, i’m Stephan, the owner operator of Montgomery Board and Train. How this got started: I had been training dogs as a hobbyist for 29 years and training therapy dogs and working with various therapy dog groups for about 10 years back in 2016. I was visiting the Conroe Petco in Montgomery County and the manager was really impressed with my dog. I had Gretchen, my PTSD dog with me. He offered me a job as a trainer at Petco. As that’s what I spend a great deal of my time doing anyway, I accepted. So then I went through AKC’s 6-month long AKC Evaluator training course, offered through Petco. Dog training at Petco was relatively slow, so I decided to branch off on my own and started CustomK9 around 2017. I still own CustomK9.DOG. The focus of CustomK9 is on in home personal one-on-one training. I started this side of the business recently to address customers needs for people that need “Board and Train” services. I specialize in service dogs PTSD.
Certifications, I am a former American Kennel Club Evaluator, having done the testing of dogs for AKC titles in Montgomery County. I also have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology (UT/SHSU) which lends itself well to dog training.
